SIGHTSEEING

Chorio, as the locals call it, is the largest settlement on the island. It spreads around the imposing Medieval castle and provides an amazing view to the port of Psathi and to Polyaigos island.

Walking around the village, you will have the chance to be amazed by the aegean culture, the beautiful traditional cycladic alleys, the improvised lending libraries and the picturesque churches.

The traditional white houses with their flowery gardens, combined with medieval walls, create a landscape of unique beauty.

ACTIVITIES

HIKING

Kimolos is the ideal choice for lovers of nature activities, as it has a variety of walking routes and paths, that hide wonderful natural landscapes. On one of the routes, you will come across a rare geological formation, the 'Mushroom Stone' which the locals call Skiadi. It was created due to the long-term erosion of its different rocks, by the strong winds that blow at this site.

At settlements of Goupa and Rema, you can also visit another impressive spot of the island. There are many caves with colorful doors, which are carved into the rocks. They are used as storage facilities for fishermen's boats and have their own long history.

BOAT TOURS

To have a full picture of the rich coastline, you should explore the island by boat. There are many hidden spots for diving, such as Agioklima beach with the hot water spring, the enchanting cave of Gerakia and the so-called "Caldera of Kimolos" in the northern part of the island, named as “Gero-Nicolas Apsila‘’.

DIVING

If you like diving, you will be impressed by the underwater meadows (rent diving equipment in Pollonia of Milos). You can also observe the sunken ancient city with the well of the geometric period, just a few meters from the beach of Hellinika.

DISCOVER POLYAIGOS

What everyone should definitely do, is to discover Polyaigos island. It is located just one mile from Kimolos and is considered as an important habitat, since in its various caves, is where the Mediterranean seal Monachus Monachus gives birth.

Polyaigos will impress you with the volcanic hills and rocks, sculpted caves and its unique crystal turquoise waters. It is one of the preserved geological islands of the Aegean and is a protected areas of European program Natura 2000.
